چکیده

This paper is devoted to the coupling of a 2D reservoir model with a 1.5D vertical wellbore model, both written in axisymmetric form. The physical problems are respectively described by the Darcy-Forchheimer and the compressible Navier-Stokes equations, together with an exhaustive energy equation. Each model was previously studied and its finite element discretization was validated. The two weak problems are bound together by means of transmission conditions at the perforations, yielding a non standard mixed formulation. A technical analysis is then carried out and the well-posedness of the time-discretized coupled problem, in both the continuous and the discrete cases, is established. Numerical tests including physical cases are presented, validating the coupled code.

Using the compressible Navier-Stokes equations as a model for heat transfer in solids

Conjugate heat transfer problems are of importance in many engineering applications, since flows are usually confined by some material with heat transfer properties. Whenever there is a temperature difference between the fluid and solid, heat will be transfered and change the flow properties in a non-trivial way (Giles 1997; Henshaw & Chand 2009; Lindström & Nordström 2010; Roe et al. 2008). Th...

Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow through Microchannels – a theoretical approach

Three dimensional heat transfer and water flow characteristic in a set of rectangular microchannel heat sinks for advanced electronic systems investigated in this paper. The full Navier-Stoke’s approach is employed for this kind of narrow channels for the water flow assessments. The complete form of the energy equation accompanying the dissipation terms is also linked to the momentum equations....

Flow Analysis Heat and Mass Transfer in a Room

This reports the study on the flow behaviour, heat transfer and contamination distribution in a room. For this purpose the 3-D incompressible Navier-Stokes equations, energy equation and a mass transfer equation which model the concentration of contamination have been applied. For turbulence simulation the two equation standard k-  turbulence model was employed. By means of SIMPLE algorithm the...

Axi-symmetric Stagnation–Point Flow and Heat Transfer Obliquely Impinging on a Rotating Circular Cylinder

Laminar stagnation flow, axi-symmetrically yet obliquely impinging on a rotating circular cylinder, as well as its heat transfer is formulated as an exact solution of the Navier-Stokes equations. Rotational velocity of the cylinder is time-dependent while the surface transpiration is uniform and steady. The impinging stream is composed of a rotational axial flow superposed onto irrotational rad...

Conjugate heat transfer using modified interface conditions for the Navier-Stokes equations

This paper evaluates the use of the compressible Navier-Stokes equations, with prescribed zero velocities, as a model for heat transfer in solids. In particular in connection with conjugate heat transfer problems. We derive estimates, and show how to choose and scale the coefficients of the energy part in the Navier-Stokes equations, such that the difference between the energy equation and the ...
